Meat Science Quiz Bowl Team competes at Reciprocal Meat Conference in Lincoln, Nebraska
The Texas A&M University Quiz Bowl Team competed at the American Meat Science Association Reciprocal Meat Conference at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, Nebraska on Sunday, June 13, 2015. Two four-member teams went deep in the double-elimination tournament before they were eliminated. The team was selected in May from a group of students who first attended a Quiz Bowl information meeting in January, 2015. The Texas A&M University Quiz Bowl Team competed at the American Meat Science Association Reciprocal Meat Conference at Madison, Wisconsin on Sunday, June 15, 2014. Two four-member teams went deep in the double-elimination tournament before they were eliminated. Aggies named to All American Meat Judging Team
Three members of the Meat Judging Team, Mallorie Phelps, Jessie Hoffman and James Boyd Vaughan, were named to the 2013 All American Meat Judging Team during the International Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest held Nov. 17 at Tyson Foods in Dakota City, Neb. For the past ten years AMSA has recognized students for their performance in Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contests and their grade point average by selecting them for All American Meat Judging Teams. Texas A&M University Meat Judging Team wins American Royal contest
The Texas A&M University Meat Judging Team won the American Royal Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest held in Omaha, Nebraska on October 20, 2013. The team practiced at the Rosenthal Meat Center, Tyson Beef (Amarillo, TX), Cargill Beef (Schuyler, NE), and the University of Nebraska before competing in the contest. Bob Ondrusek Memorial Scholarship Recipients, 2013-2014
The Bob Ondrusek Memorial Scholarship, which was begun in 2000 by the SMA Foundation, is the greatest source of scholarship funds for undergraduate and graduate students interested in meat science in the U.S. Bob Ondrusek left a lasting impression and impact on so many people through his business, Columbia Packing Company in Dallas, and through his charitable and personal support of the Southwest Meat Association, FFA, 4-H, and many other associations and activities.
