2013 Texas A&M University Meat Judging Team

The Texas A&M University Meat Judging Team won the American Royal Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest held in Omaha, Nebraska on October 20, 2013. The team practiced at the Rosenthal Meat Center, Tyson Beef (Amarillo, TX), Cargill Beef (Schuyler, NE), and the University of Nebraska before competing in the contest.

Overall team rankings were:

  • 1st Texas A&M University (4038)
  • 2nd Texas Tech University (4020)
  • 3rd Angelo State University (3984)
  • 4th Colorado State University (3984)
  • 5th University of Illinois (3979)

Team placings:

  • 5th in beef grading
  • 2nd (tied for 1st) in lamb judging
  • 1st in pork judging
  • 1st in beef judging
  • 6th in specifications
  • 1st in total beef
  • 1st in placings
  • 1st in reasons

Individual placings:

  • 5th individual, Mallorie Phelps
  • 6th individual, Drew Cassens
  • 7th individual, J. Boyd Vaughan
  • 8th individual, Jessie Hoffman

Cameron Olson also ranked 7th in the alternate contest.
