Texas A&M hosts workout for meat judging teams
The Rosenthal Meat Center hosted its annual workout on Friday, March 4, 2016 ahead of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest. This practice is an annual activity, and the Rosenthal Meat Center has hosted this workout as one of the longest running activities in its history. 2015 Aggie Commercial Steer Camp held July 27-28, 2015
The 2015 Aggie Commercial Steer Camp was held on the campus of Texas A&M University on July 27-28, 2015. The camp was hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and the Department of Animal Science and sponsored by The Texas Beef Council, San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo®, and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Aggie Commercial Steer Camp held on July 28-29, 2014
The second annual Aggie Commercial Steer Camp was held at the Rosenthal Meat Center on July 28-29, 2014 at Texas A&M University. This extension education program is geared towards youth involved in Texas Commercial Steer Shows. The program covered a wide range of topics within two days to better help youth and parents learn about purchasing steers and the management of raising a commercial steer project also while providing contest preparation activities. Spring brings carcass shows
Each spring, Meat Science faculty and students are very busy collecting carcass data from the steers, barrows, and lambs that are shown at major and local shows. San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo are the two major shows where we collect carcass data with the steers harvested at Sam Kane Beef Processors, the barrows and lambs from Houston harvested at the Rosenthal Meat Center, and the barrows from San Antonio harvested at the Rosenthal Meat Center and the lambs harvested at Texas… Read More →
