Yeater and Waters receive Carpenter Award

Michael Yeater and Crystal Waters, Ph.D. students in the Meat Science Section in the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University, received the Z.L. Carpenter Outstanding Graduate Student Award in Meat Science at the department’s Christmas Dinner and Awards Ceremony on December 17, 2015. The award is named in honor of Dr. Zerle L. Carpenter who began his career at Texas A&M University as an assistant professor of animal science in 1962. Students participate in American Meat Science Association Student Leadership Conference

The American Meat Science Association (AMSA) Student Membership Board of Directors announced that 86 students from 13 universities attended the AMSA 2015 Student Leadership Conference in Springdale, Arkansas on March 13-14, 2015. Texas A&M University students who participated included Michael Berto, Courtney Boykin, Clay Eastwood, Hillary Henderson, Helen Kline, and Michael Yeater. Students began Friday morning, March 13, with tours of the Cryovac and a Tyson poultry processing plant. Seven Meat Science graduate students presented their research work at the poster session of the American Meat Science Association Reciprocal Meat Conference held in Madison, Wisconsin, June 15-18, 2014. Two graduate students, Rachel Glascock and Clay Eastwood, participated in the Poster Competition. Meat Science Quiz Bowl Team competes at Reciprocal Meat Conference in Madison, Wisconsin

The Texas A&M University Quiz Bowl Team competed at the American Meat Science Association Reciprocal Meat Conference at Madison, Wisconsin on Sunday, June 15, 2014. Two four-member teams went deep in the double-elimination tournament before they were eliminated. Eastwood and Yeater inducted into Gamma Sigma Delta

Clay Eastwood and Michael Yeater, graduate students in the Meat Science Section of the Department of Animal Science, were inducted into the Texas A&M University of the Gamma Sigma Delta in a recent ceremony. Clay is finishing her M.S. degree, and Michael is working on his Ph.D. degree. Gamma Sigma Delta was initiated at the Ohio State University on December 1, 1905 under the name Delta Theta Sigma.
