The 2015 Aggie Commercial Steer Camp was held on the campus of Texas A&M University on July 27-28, 2015. The camp was hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and the Department of Animal Science and sponsored by The Texas Beef Council, San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo®, and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Beef 706 held at Sul Ross State University, June 29-30, 2015

A Beef 706 program was conducted at Sul Ross State University, Alpine, Texas, June 29-30, 2015. About 20 cattle producers, primarily from the Far West Texas region, participated in the program. Beef 706 is sponsored by the Texas Beef Council as a way to increase the knowledge of the end-products of beef production for farmers, ranchers, and other key people involved in the Texas beef business. The program was sponsored by Standard Meat Company and conducted by the faculty and students of the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University. Youth Beef 706 held at Texas Tech University, July 6-7, 2015

Dan Hale, professor and extension meat specialist in the Department of Animal Science, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, coordinated the 2015 Youth Beef 706 program held in Lubbock, Texas on July 6-7, 2015. The program was sponsored by the Texas Beef Council and is conducted in partnership between the Texas A&M University and Texas Tech University Departments of Animal Science. Meat Science Quiz Bowl Team competes at Reciprocal Meat Conference in Lincoln, Nebraska

The Texas A&M University Quiz Bowl Team competed at the American Meat Science Association Reciprocal Meat Conference at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, Nebraska on Sunday, June 13, 2015. Two four-member teams went deep in the double-elimination tournament before they were eliminated. The team was selected in May from a group of students who  first attended a Quiz Bowl information meeting in January, 2015. The second annual Aggie Commercial Steer Camp was held at the Rosenthal Meat Center on July 28-29, 2014 at Texas A&M University. This extension education program is geared towards youth involved in Texas Commercial Steer Shows. Temple Grandin receives honorary degree from Texas A&M University

Dr. Temple Grandin, professor of animal science at Colorado State University and internationally recognized authority on animal handling and autism, received an honorary degree from Texas A&M University on Friday, August 15, 2014. Dr. Grandin’s contribution to our understanding of animal and human behavior has set new standards for helping people in these diverse areas solve problems.
