Texas Association of Meat Processors 31st Annual Convention

The Texas Association of Meat Processors (TAMP) held their 31st annual convention in College Station, August 10-12, 2017.  TAMP members are primarily the small and very small meat plants around Texas and their associated suppliers. Dr. Davey Griffin, professor and Extension Meat Specialist serves as the director of the association through a cooperative agreement with the Department of Animal Science and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. 4-H Grilling and Smoking Workshop held June 9, 2016

The first 4-H Grilling and Smoking Workshop was held at the Rosenthal Meat Center on June 9, 2016. The workshop was coordinated by Davey Griffin with assistance from Dan Hale, Chris Kerth, and Jeff Savell from the Department of Animal Science. Lisa Fritz and Amanda Smith from H-E-B and Victoria Pilger, Jason Bagley, and Jerry McPherson from Texas Beef Council led some of the activities of the workshop. Amanda Smith receives Z.L. Carpenter Outstanding Graduate Student Award

  Amanda Smith, a recent Master of Science graduate in the Department of Animal Science with Graduate Certificates in Meat Science and Food Safety, received the Z.L. Carpenter Outstanding Graduate Student Award in Meat Science for 2012.
