Rhonda Miller, Gordon Carstens, Ashley Arnold, Kayley Wall, Chris Kerth, and Jeff Savell of the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University participated in and presented papers at the 64th International Congress of Meat Science and Technology (ICoMST), which was held in Melbourne, Australia on August 12-17, 2018. Rhonda Miller, Gordon Carstens, Hannah Laird, Clay Eastwood, and Jeff Savell of the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University participated in and presented papers at the 63rd International Congress of Meat Science and Technology (ICoMST), which was held in Cork, Ireland on August 13-18, 2017. Carstens presented his paper during the oral sessions and the rest of the papers were presented during the posters sessions. Students participate in Southwest Meat Association Annual Convention

A number of undergraduate and graduate students from the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University participated in the Southwest Meat Association Annual Convention and Suppliers Showcase held at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort in San Antonio, Texas, July 19 to 22, 2017. Kirby Bohls and Jill Jobe served as student assistants for the convention. Faculty members Ray Riley, Davey Griffin, Leslie Frenzel, and Jeff Savell also were at the convention. Riley receives Vice Chancellor Award in Excellence

Ray Riley ’79, manager of the Rosenthal Meat Center and longtime member of the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University, received the Vice Chancellor’s Award in Excellence for Technical and Programmatic Staff for 2015 at a ceremony at the AgriLife Center on January 14, 2016. The Vice Chancellor’s Awards in Excellence were established in 1980 and recognize the commitment and outstanding contributions of faculty and staff across Texas A&M AgriLife. Youth Beef 706 held at Texas Tech University, July 6-7, 2015

Dan Hale, professor and extension meat specialist in the Department of Animal Science, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, coordinated the 2015 Youth Beef 706 program held in Lubbock, Texas on July 6-7, 2015. The program was sponsored by the Texas Beef Council and is conducted in partnership between the Texas A&M University and Texas Tech University Departments of Animal Science.
