Students attend Southwest Meat Association 60th Convention

Students from the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University participated in the 60th Annual Convention and Supplier’s Showcase of the Southwest Meat Association, which was held at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort at Cedar Creek, Texas on July 27-30, 2016. Adam Murray and Dylan Tucker served as student assistants at the convention, and Kenna Turner is serving as a summer intern for the Southwest Meat Association. Bob Ondrusek Memorial Scholarship Recipients, 2016-2017

Clay Eastwood receives Association of Former Students Distinguished Graduate Student Award for Excellence in Teaching

Clay Eastwood received an Association of Former Students Distinguished Graduate Student Award for Excellence in Teaching at a ceremony held in the Stark Gallery in the Memorial Student Center at Texas A&M University on Monday, April 25, 2016. Hillary Henderson, a M.S. student in Meat Science in the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University, was one of three students who received the Ronnie L. Edwards Graduate Student Teaching Award at the department’s Christmas Dinner and Award’s Ceremony on December 17, 2015. Michael Yeater and Crystal Waters, Ph.D. students in the Meat Science Section in the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University, received the Z.L. Carpenter Outstanding Graduate Student Award in Meat Science at the department’s Christmas Dinner and Awards Ceremony on December 17, 2015. The award is named in honor of Dr. Zerle L. Meat Science graduate students gain valuable leadership skills by working with programs such as Beef 706. Beef 706 is sponsored by the Texas Beef Council on behalf of the Beef Checkoff, is hosted by the Department of Animal Science, and is a producer-education program where those in the beef production industry learn first-hand about the ultimate product they are producing. Hillary Henderson receives SMIKids Graduate Scholarship for 2015-2016

Hillary Henderson, a Meat Science graduate student from Alvin, Texas, is this year’s graduate recipient of the SMIKids Scholarship. Hillary was presented the scholarship at the 59th Annual Southwest Meat Association Annual Convention held at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, July 22-25, 2015.
